Usemtau
A steel yard in Almaty that also builds: rolled steel, hangars, warehouses, sandwich panels and its own corrugated-web beams. A site styled as engineering drawings: metres turn into tonnes and a total at once, an invoice for a company by BIN is put together without a call, and an 18×36 m warehouse assembles from their steel as you scroll.

The brief
Usemtau lists 268 items priced per tonne, but working out how many metres that is falls to the buyer. There is a cart, yet no way to get an invoice for a company by BIN, so the procurement officer calls and dictates the details. On a phone you can only call after scrolling down, the menu has 13 identical lines about construction, the descriptions on the home page break off mid-word, and the home page and «Delivery and payment» say different things about free delivery. The mock-up looks like a drawing sheet: paper, ink, their blue, monospaced captions, and Blender renders of the yard and the steel marked «visualisation». Search for «rebar 12» with add-to-request, a 17-section catalogue, and a calculator on each item: metres, bar lengths, tonnes, weight by GOST and a total at their price. The procurement request is an invoice-style document; delivery takes city, weight and length and names the truck needed. A warehouse assembles as you scroll together with its steel schedule, and the corrugated-web beam and the hangar are drawing sheets with a title block and a WhatsApp link. Call and WhatsApp are always under the thumb.
