Car Dealership Website in Tashkent: A Teardown of a Site That Makes It Hard to Buy a Car

We reviewed the website of a car dealership in Tashkent. It has a car catalog, an auto service section and a page for sellers: six pages in total, nothing superfluous. The structure is sensible, and it is clear the site was built seriously. If you are planning a car dealership website in Tashkent, this is a useful example of where a decent site still loses buyers.

Buying a car is an expensive decision that people think over for weeks, comparing options at several dealerships at once. That makes the website work as the first sales manager: it either answers the basic questions and makes it easy to get in touch, or the customer goes to the dealership down the road. We went through the site through the eyes of that visitor.

The automated audit score is 12 out of 100, and the server takes a little over a second to respond, which is a bit much for a site like this. But the scores are not the main point. Below is what a person sees when they arrive on a phone, pick a car, and want to find out the price or make a call.

What stops it from selling

A visitor has picked a car and wants to call, but there is no phone number anywhere

What it costs the business. A buyer who has reached the "I'm coming to see it" stage looks for the dealership's number. If they can't find it, they won't fill in a form and wait for a reply; they will go back to search and call another dealership. For a car dealership this is the most expensive loss: it is not just a lost visit, it is a customer who was already ready to buy.

What we do. We put the number in the header of every page and make it tappable, so that on a phone the call starts with a single touch. About an hour of work.

No car and no service has a price listed

What it costs the business. We went through all six pages, including the catalog, the auto service and the sellers' section, and did not find a single price. "How much does it cost?" is the buyer's first question, and without an answer it is impossible to compare the dealership with competitors. Few people will write and ask; most will simply leave for a place where the price is visible, and you will never know about them.

What we do. We add a price or a "from-to" range for the cars in the catalog and for the main auto service jobs, and explain what the final amount depends on. This does not commit you to selling at the lower bound, but it filters out casual visitors. A day or two, including the copy.

On a phone, the page has to be dragged sideways with a finger

What it costs the business. A phone screen is much narrower than the 992 pixels the layout is designed for, so part of the text and buttons runs off the edge. For a car dealership this is especially unfortunate: photos and specifications of cars are mostly viewed on a phone, and many people won't think to slide the page over to see the rest.

What we do. We remove the fixed width and rework the blocks so they adapt to the screen. For a six-page site this takes a few days.

You can't message the dealership on Telegram or WhatsApp, even though that is how people arrange things now

What it costs the business. Many people would rather write "is this car still available?" and get a photo and a price in reply than make a call. This is especially true in the evenings and on weekends, when people usually browse dealerships. Without a messenger button, these inquiries simply never happen, and they don't show up in the site's statistics.

What we do. We add Telegram and WhatsApp buttons to the header and a floating button on mobile, with a pre-filled first message such as "Hello, I'm interested in this particular car." A few hours.

A link to a car from the catalog can't be shared nicely

What it costs the business. Buyers often forward links to cars they like to a wife, a friend or a brother. Right now, instead of a card with a photo and a title, a bare address goes out, and noticeably fewer people click such a link. And the people who receive it are exactly the ones who help make the decision.

What we do. We add an image and a caption for messengers and social networks, so that the link unfolds into a neat card. A couple of hours, including preparing the image.

Google doesn't understand that the site has Russian and Uzbek versions

What it costs the business. In Tashkent people search for cars in both Russian and Uzbek, and these are different people with different queries. Without a link between the versions, the search engine treats them as competing pages and shows one or the other at random, instead of showing each person their own language.

What we do. We link the language versions to each other the way Google expects. A few hours, if both versions already exist.

One page has several addresses, and the search engine doesn't know which is the main one

What it costs the business. A catalog page can open with and without a trailing slash, with and without www, and with advertising tags. To a search engine these are different pages with identical text, and their weight is split between them: instead of one strong page you get several weak ones.

What we do. We set a canonical address on all pages. A few hours.

What this gives

A buyer who is ready to come and see a car finds the number right away and calls, instead of going to the dealership down the road.

People who don't like calling write on Telegram or WhatsApp, and these inquiries finally reach the managers.

Prices in the catalog and in the auto service filter out casual visitors, and those who do write arrive with clear expectations.

If all of this is done together, it makes up a complete project for a car dealership website, while the quickest fixes, such as the number in the header and the messenger buttons, can be done in a couple of days.

What this costs

Out of every hundred people who reach the site ready to get in touch, roughly 55–83 are lost at these points.

This is an estimate based on our own stated assumptions, not a measurement of someone else's analytics: we do not know this site's traffic and do not make it up. We count per hundred visitors, and the share of every item is open in our code.
